Prague Praha Praga Prag

Warning : a very very long post loaded with many photos. Not recommended for the busy or impatience.

After a pretty long rest, 1 week to be exact, it's time to start blogging about the trip. Yes, the trip to Prague and Spain! which I was kinda reluctant to go before this. Haha, but thank god I went in the end. For once, it made me feel I was alive again!

okok, cut the crap. How should I start leh? Bcoz the flight to Prague was too early and we were all too busy sleeping on the plane, so there isn't any typical blogger's shot of the plane's wing in the background of a white blue sky to begin this post with.

Nvm, I have got other better stuffs for you to begin with,

remember the yellow nameboard

and read the musuem's name carefully.

I must have pictured Prague as a real sinful city some sort like Amsterdam with all the *ahem* ahem* stuffs. Haha. It was only coincidence as when we first arrived in Prague, these are the shops that met our eyes.

Entrance to the Charles Bridge

Prague, or Praha at their local language, is a romantic and sceneric city to visit. Nothing real much to complain, besides its FREEZING cold weather. To brave through the cold wind every morning and to stay outdoor throughout the day doesn't feel holiday-ish at all. -_-

Glass inside the St. Vitus, definitely a sight to behold!

From our eyes, this city is poor. Perhaps very much due to its historical background of having to endure the civil wars a few decades ago, people here generally has a lower living standard compared to other European countries.

This shop we went in had a creepy chinese lady boss who spoke with a monotone while taking our order. In Chinese, literally she meant, ' you people wants to eat pig, cow, goat, chicken or....' (instead of pork, beef, lamb etc)

But one thing good about this place, seriously good, the FOOD!!! Chinese food especially! Unlike previous europe trips where we had to be aware of our dining expenses, everytime when our feet get tired from walking, easily we walked in a cafe or a restaurant for a meal! haha. Life's gooood.... =) =) =)

Outside a shop selling Devil Goulash, a famous local cuisine. It's a beef dish though, I didn't try.

Museum that oversees Wencelas Square

In fact before I came here, I've always thought western world would have been more advanced than us, with a better culture and living standards. Seems like I was pretty wrong. Here in Prague, we seldom see new cars, all look pretty old with at least 10 years car age; houses are worn out and dusty; roads are quiet and not very clean; yet people are simple and plain.

2am. After a fulfilling KFC meal. Still looking sleepy.

Prague citizens are definitely very hardworking in terms of striving for a living. Many shops open at 6am and most eating places close late in midnight between 2-5am including KFC! and for all 3 nights, we purposely woke up at midnight and went out to have 12am supper at KFC! again, hehe, mamak deprived syndrome. =P

Tell you, KFC here, seriously, THUMBS UP!

awwwhh.... I so miss their Quritto. and their hot wings. thinking of it makes me drool la. if any of you going to Prague next time, must try their KFC! ... and they sell beers even.

see how high David became.

Prague Castle was definitely another highlight!
Bohemian Crown. Most stones are unusually big make the crown looked unreal. Those stones seemingly with a string tied in the middle are actually taken down from previous jewellery and recycled.

Castle Ticket was usable for 2 days so we spent 2 afternoon at the Castle exploring it. Absolutely breathtaking! Especially their gothic St. Vitus Cathedral.

Also, thanks to both David and Matt introducing me gargoyles which legendarily will turn into alive creatures at night to guard around the palace and change back into stone statues when the daylight strikes.

Golden Lane, situated at the back of the Castle, it was where the soldiers, fortune tellers and the alchemists used to live. This place now becomes a museum displaying weapons and armours used in wars.

Inside the war museum.
A few hundred years ago, their weapons were already so high tech! Someone said it looked very similiar to Final Fantasy's items.

St. Vitus Cathedral

Outside the Golden Lane, on the way heading to the main courtyard, we saw these!

Metal roses. The blacksmith was VERY cute!

and Matt thought buying girlfriend a metal rose is a better choice.

Ceiling painted with emblems from all different royal clans.

Trying archery in the Castle. David looking very happy! Reason unknown.

This is unfair I tell you! As I was given only one shot, that instructor didn't tell me how to fire a bow properly and the arrow was so loosenly tied onto it! Once I touched the button without even pressing it and aiming properly, the arrow already flied out! What la.

See, others looking so cool!

Outside the castle, there's this orchestra performing in the snow. Veyr very nice. I don't know exactly how to describe the niceness. Four members in the group, each of them are so unique with their own style. Violinist was my FAVOURITE!

I looked very crop-able in this pic. abit extra.

There's one thing strange about the train fare in this city.

Human train fare = 18 KC

Dog's fare = 26KC. 0_0

Hostel that gave me a big allergy. Now there are at least 4 scratched scars on my calf, thanks to the itchiness it brought on. GRrr....

As it was during the Easter week when we were there, market situated at the Old Town Square was pretty happening. Live bands performing on stage giving the whole place a little vibe when everyone was busy with eating hot foods and buying Easter presents.

Matt, despite our advises, risked his life taking this upclose photo by shining the camera flash right into the horse eyes. We were so worried the horses will go mad and galloped over us.

City council in the background. So much like the Cinderella castle.

This kind of hat is one of the commonest seen in every souvenir shops. I thought I looked childish in it, didn't buy in the end.

Old Town Square Easter Market
Hot BBQ sticks, definitely a good treat to yourself in the weather of 0 degree celcius. Crazy lar!

Bread as big as my face. Spinkled on top shredded cheese and garlic granules. Might not look appetizing here, but it did taste good!

Easter bunny made entirely from chocolate.

Easter eggs commonly seen on streets.

Russians dolls are everywhere too. Wonder why? is it because Czech Republic is relatively near to Russia geographically?

On the other end of the Square, stood the sophiscated Astronomical Clock.

Apparently it has the information of the sun, the moon, the zodiac, the date, the time which altogether add up making this clock too complicated to read. I wonder how many people can actually read time off it. Crowd gather around it every hour anticipating the 'The Walk of the Apostles' showing the moving statues of the Apostles and taking pictures with it.

Like this...

Travelling with only 2 guys in Prague. Luckily 3 days later in Spain another girl joined us. How can a trip has no girls talk right? although I must admit David didn't do too bad the job in Prague. =P

Charles Bridge. I wasn't trying to move the stone statue. Many tourists put their hands this way and said their prayers. I copied too.

Nightview of this city is another gem.

taken from the boat trip, which sell overpriced hot chocolate. bah.

Prague Castle in the background.

See, Matt's cam can take such a nice picture! My 3 years old Nikon didn't perform well at night. Whenever it comes to night photo taking, I always give up. Made me want to invest in a SLR so much! ^_^

US!

ok lah, this is a very very long post. break my record already lah. want to sleep d. your patience very much appreciated. next round continue with Spain posts. Hope you enjoy reading it. =)
